For our clients who would like to schedule in-person home tours or consultations, our team is continuing to offer these services when possible, while still following the recommended CDC and WHO guidelines for safety. Please note that in-person home tours or consultations may not be possible in all counties. Most of the 9 counties in the Greater Houston area have issued some kind of “Stay At Home” order for its residents, and each county has defined what is considered as ‘essential business’ in its territory.
In Harris County, real estate services are considered as an essential service that can continue to operate during the “Stay Home-Work Safe” order that went into effect at 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 24.
The following section from the order applies to Harris County, which includes the City of Houston:
Professional services, such as legal or accounting services, insurances services, and “real estate services” when necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities or to further Essential Businesses, Essential Government functions, or Critical Infrastructure.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has also issued its own guidance on what it deems an “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce”, which includes “residential and commercial real estate services, including settlement services” as a part of “Other Community – or Government-Based Operations and Essential Functions” permitted to conduct business during the COVID-19 response.
