After screening a plethora of applicants, the TLG Gives committee has chosen the Monsivaes family of Houston, Texas as the 2018 Home Transformation beneficiary. Paul Monsivaes, the patriarch of the family, passed away last April due to complications following a hospital procedure. Paul is survived by his wife, Maribel, and his two sons, Paul Jr. and Ryan.
Before Paul passed away, he was in the process of making repairs on the house, which was in desperate need of improvement. While some repairs were made by Paul, many issues remained. These include cracks in the interior walls, an unusable master bathroom due to mold, and an undersized window that is allowing bugs into the house. The family also has concerns about protection as their fence could use repairing.
“This unfinished home is a daily reminder of what Paul never got to complete. Our main goal for this project is to fulfill the vision that Paul had for this home and for his family,” said Sydney Kempler, Chairman of TLG Gives.
Paul and Maribel instilled lifelong values in their two sons, which include respect, quality time with family, and the importance of education. Paul Jr. and Ryan continue to live by those values today, and are currently enrolled in school to earn their degrees.
The Home Transformation project for the Monsivaes family is set to begin Summer 2018. If you would like to learn more about the TLG Gives Home Transformation Project and how you can help, visit www.tlggives.com
